Our Low Secure Unit at Regency Lodge Heswall has recently seen a change in Management. From October 2009 Mr Alex Rugen has replaced Dr Jenny Shaw as Hospital Manager. Alex was previously Head of Nursing/Deputy Manager at Regency Lodge Blackpool. We wish them both success in their new roles.

Regency Lodge Blackpool has again successfully completed its annual self assessment by The Care Quality Commission for the third consecutive year.
In November 2009, Regency Lodge Heswall had a successful statutory inspection by the Care Quality Commission with no requirements or recommendations being made.

Both hospitals have accredited assessors on-site for the AQA award scheme. Patients are able to complete chosen vocational study and have their efforts recognised by certification.
Regency Lodge Blackpool have been in this position for a number of years under the leadership of Jon Chadwick, Vocational and Life Skills Coordinator. Chris Abraham, Activities Assistant at Regency Lodge Heswall has recently completed his training and hopes to emulate the AQA achievements at Blackpool.
Vocational areas covered include outdoor living, cooking, basic living skills, vehicle maintenance, catering and hospitality, horticulture and furniture manufacture.
In addition to the AQA scheme, a number of patients from both hospitals have been recognised at the recent Koestler Awards both regionally and nationally. Representatives from the Koestler Trust attended Blackpool recently for a prestigious awards ceremony which acknowledged the high level of achievement by our patients.

A warm welcome is extended to two new team members;
Irene Leonard has joined the team in her role as Occupational Therapist. Irene brings to the team her extensive experience and will take a lead role in coordinating therapeutic activity.
Tim Brooks has also joined the team as Clinical Psychologist. Tim's direct patient contact will form a significant part of patient assessment and treatment.
